Job summary

Muon Space, Inc. in San Jose seeks an Industrial Engineering Intern to support the AIT team in analyzing production processes and implementing improvements to increase throughput.

This hands-on role will apply industrial engineering principles in a fast-growing spacecraft manufacturing environment. You will collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain and Test Engineering to develop capacity models, perform time studies, and drive lean initiatives.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical field related to industrial/manufacturing engineering.
• Strong fundamentals in engineering, manufacturing, and operations.
• Analytical/problem-solving mindset with data-driven improvement ability.
• Experience with Excel for data analysis, modeling, and visualization.
• Strong communication and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.
• Hands-on work in production, lab, or engineering settings.
• Detail-oriented with good organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze spacecraft assembly, integration, and test processes to improve efficiency, quality, and throughput.
• Develop and maintain process maps, standard work, and manufacturing documentation.
• Collect and analyze production data to identify trends and bottlenecks.
• Support development of production capacity and resource planning models.
• Assist with production scheduling, workflow optimization, and resource allocation.
• Conduct time studies to establish baseline cycle times and labor needs.
• Support lean initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
• Identify opportunities to improve material flow, tooling, and workstation layouts.
• Develop dashboards and reports to track production performance.
• Collaborate with technicians and engineers to implement process improvements.
