Job summary

Omitron, Inc. seeks a Space Systems Administrator to join the Vandenberg Space Force Base team. This on-site role focuses on Linux/Windows server administration, VMware vSphere, and mission-critical platform support for SDA/C2 systems, with US citizenship and a DoD clearance required.

You will monitor performance, implement upgrades, coordinate with mission stakeholders, and ensure ITAR/EAR/CUI compliance while maintaining 24/7 on-call readiness in a secured facility.

Qualifications

• US citizenship required.
• Active DoD Secret clearance; willingness to upgrade to TS/SCI if needed.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 6+ years in systems administration, DevOps, or software engineering (or 4+ years with graduate degree).
• DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II certs (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA-Security) or ability to obtain.
• Proficiency with Linux OS including CLI, performance optimization, troubleshooting.
• Experience with system performance monitoring and operational sustainment.
• Strong understanding of network infrastructure and data pipelines.
• Ability to lead technical activities and cross-functional teams.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Experience administering VMware vSphere.
• Experience administering AD, DNS, DHCP.
• Experience administering Windows Server and RHEL.
• Familiarity with scripting/automation (Python, MATLAB, C#).
• DoD 8570.01M IAT Level 2 cert (e.g., Security+).
• Ability to support 24/7 on-call rotations.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain the operational platform and tenant applications for high availability and performance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, outages, and performance concerns with minimal downtime.
• Provide technical expertise for system sustainment and daily mission operations.
• Guide end-user support, resolving complex issues and promoting best practices.
• Plan and implement system upgrades, patches, and service packs.
• Conduct routine system audits to evaluate performance, integrity, and compliance.
• Maintain system documentation, procedures, and SOPs.
• Coordinate with site support teams and stakeholders to resolve issues.
• Review alerts/incidents and drive corrective actions.
• Prepare performance reports and recommendations for improvements.
• Ensure ITAR/EAR/CUI compliance and cybersecurity standards.
• Stay aware of emerging technologies and best practices.
• Occasional travel as needed.
