Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a highly motivated intern to gain hands-on experience in national security space analysis. You will support research and development for space-based sensing architectures, perform performance modeling, and help translate customer needs into actionable project objectives.

Applicants should be enrolled in a Masteror Ph.D. program (or BS with graduate program start) and capable of a 10-week full-time internship.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Master3s or Ph.D. in aerospace engineering, physics, operations research, mathematics, or related field.
• Willingness to work full-time for at least 10 weeks and return to graduate program after completion of internship.
• Minimum GPA 3.0.
• Familiarity with astrodynamics or space operations.
• Ability to interact with a diverse team in different locations.
• Familiarity with Python, C++, or MATLAB.
• Personal accountability, desire to learn, and ability to manage several tasks.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
• Transcripts required.
• Previous relevant experience preferred.
• Academic background in systems engineering, modeling & simulation, or space-based remote sensing architectures preferred.
• Experience presenting analysis results preferred.
• Proficiency in orbital mechanics or space operations preferred.
• Proficiency with Python or C++ software development preferred.
• Familiarity with High-Performance Computing/Linux environments preferred.
• Current TS/SCI access with a polygraph preferred.

Responsibilities

• Gain knowledge in national security space or intelligence areas including geo-spatial, signals, space surveillance, navigation, protection, and communications infrastructure.
• Provide analysis supporting R&D and acquisition decisions for space-based sensing architectures.
• Perform architecture evaluation modeling of performance using in-house tools.
• Translate customer needs into project objectives and provide technical evaluations.
• Develop and present timely, technically accurate presentations and reports of results and recommendations.
• Aid in sustaining and growing organizational analysis and simulation capabilities.
