Job summary

KBR is seeking temporary (six-months) to full-time Space Suit Sewing Technicians to support our Space Suit Design Team for KBR’s Science and Space division at the Webster, Texas facility.

The role involves fabricating, assembling and repairing soft-goods components, reading fabrication drawings, operating specific sewing machines, and ensuring quality per drawings. U.S. citizenship is required, and work is onsite.

Qualifications

• Proficient in industrial sewing machines and fabric pattern fabrication.
• Ability to read soft-goods drawings and to sew to very tight tolerances.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain necessary clearances.

Responsibilities

• Sew materials by hand or machine to join, reinforce, or decorate articles.
• Cuts materials to specifications and trims excess material with scissors or knife.
• Examine and measure finished articles for conformance to standards.
• Monitor machine operation and adjust guides, needles, and threads as required.
• Position and mark patterns, operate feeders, and replace needles as needed.
• Record materials used in production logs and ensure fabrication quality.
