Job summary

KBR, Inc. is seeking a Space Suit Design Engineer to join the Space Suit Operations Team onsite in Houston, TX near the Johnson Space Center.

You will design, develop, test, and maintain space suits and related equipment for LEO and beyond, collaborating with a cross-functional team to ensure mission-ready hardware. The role requires 3–7 years of mechanical or aerospace engineering experience, strong CAD capabilities, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• 3 to 7 years of experience with onsite work in Houston near JSC (77058).
• Excellent verbal and written communication, teamwork and leadership.
• Proficient CAD software and design analysis capabilities.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external customers.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, implement and analyze technical products using solid/fluids mechanics and heat transfer.
• Perform engineering design evaluations.
• Procure, assemble and test advanced prototypes to guide design decisions and verify performance.
• Prepare and present designs at design reviews using MS Word and PowerPoint.
• Produce required design documentation and assemble hardware requirements.
• Ensure designs meet requirements and verifications in V&V programs.
• Support production, evaluate anomalies and initiate corrective actions.
• Perform trade studies for technology development.
• Analyze data and recommend improvements.
• Understand nominal/off-nominal operations and interactions with other systems.
• Manage multiple issues and develop integrated solutions.
• Work with fabrication/manufacturing to ensure proper execution of designs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
