Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation, based in El Segundo, CA, is seeking a Sr. Member of Technical Staff/Engineering Specialist in Aeronautical and Aerospace Structural Engineering to lead structural analyses for spacecraft components and ground hardware.

This role requires a TS/SCI security clearance, a bachelor’s degree in engineering, and 5+ years in structural engineering with FEAs. Travel approximately 20% domestically or internationally may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related technical field is required.
  • 5+ years of professional or academic experience in structural engineering.
  • Experience performing finite element analyses.
  • Experience with the design, qualification, and testing of aerospace structural components and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate, and resolve structural design and test issues for electronics components and spacecraft structures; coordinate detailed structural analyses.
  • Develop design and analysis criteria, requirements, and specifications and assess structural designs across design phases.
  • Develop and coordinate test plans, procedures, and success criteria for structural test programs.
  • Monitor and assist in budgets and resources; determine scope of work and coordinate with disciplines.
  • Proactively inform management and customers of technical problems and recommend actions; coordinate with personnel and customers to resolve issues.
  • Maintain and advance skills in structural mechanics analysis, including composites and finite element methods.
  • Provide timely technical recommendations to management and customers through briefings and reports.
