Job summary

Inversion is seeking an RF Design Engineer to lead end-to-end RF hardware development for flight and ground telemetry on next‑generation reentry vehicles. You will own RF architecture, antenna integration, lab validation, and mission‑readiness testing within the Avionics team.

You will model link budgets, select COTS RF components, and collaborate across software, guidance, power, and mechanical teams to ensure signal integrity, thermal management, and robust system performance in demanding

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop RF hardware and communication subsystems for flight and ground telemetry.
  • Develop link budgets and simulate antenna performance for challenging environments.
  • Select RF components (transmitters, PAs, LNAs, filters, switches, antennas) via trade studies.
  • Support schematic, board design, and integration with broader avionics systems.
  • Lead RF testing and end-to-end telemetry verification on benchtop and vehicle levels.
  • Assist in setting up ground station networks using S-band and L-band frequencies.
  • Collaborate with software, guidance, power, and mechanical teams on antenna placement and thermal integrity.
  • Prepare technical data and documentation for licensing (FCC/ITU/NTIA).
