Job summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory seeks a Scientist to plan and execute sensor simulations and data analysis for space-based radiation sensors within the XAPS project. Roles vary by level; Scientist 2 vs Scientist 3 with increasing responsibility onsite in Los Alamos, NM.

You will lead research tasks, develop models, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with sponsors and external partners to advance sensor capabilities while maintaining security and compliance.

Qualifications

• Expertise in radiation transport and detector simulations.
• Experience leading teams and delivering technically impactful results.
• Ability to obtain a DOE Q security clearance (US citizenship).

Responsibilities

• Develop radiation transport simulations to inform sensor design.
• Analyze operational data to ensure sensor health and performance.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to external proposals.
