Job summary

Vast is seeking a Test Instrumentation Engineer to support the E‑2 LOX/Kerosene engine program at the Mojave Test Site. The role involves operating test consoles during hazardous operations and owning all test stand instrumentation, EGSE, and DAQ systems, while coordinating calibration and safety for high‑pressure propulsion hardware.

You will work with NI hardware and LabVIEW-based data acquisition, read wiring diagrams and schematics, and contribute to test readiness reviews in a fast‑paced

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
  • 2+ years of experience working with instrumentation and control systems in an operational, design, or development capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a console operator during hazardous operations and own test stand instrumentation, EGSE, and DAQ systems.
  • Serve as Test Conductor and Test Director during static fire testing of the E‑2 engine.
  • Plan, coordinate, and lead hazardous operations involving high‑pressure systems, cryogenic fluids, and rocket propulsion hardware.
  • Maintain and oversee test stand instrumentation and control systems across facilities.
  • Develop, update, and maintain electrical schematics for test stand instrumentation and control systems.
  • Manage instrumentation calibration records ensuring traceability and accuracy.
  • Oversee calibration equipment inventory and recalibration activities.
  • Collaborate with technicians to design, build, test, and troubleshoot EGSE.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and software issues to ensure readiness.
  • Identify and implement improvements to safety, reliability, and efficiency.
