Role Description

The Space Planner/Furniture Specifier will support workplace planning and furniture selection for a variety of corporate and commercial projects. This part-time role involves preparing space plans, test fits, and layout options using CAD or design software, and translating them into detailed furniture specifications and bill-of-materials. The role includes coordinating with project managers, designers, vendors, and clients to confirm requirements, standards, finishes, and pricing, ensuring that plans align with program guidelines and workplace strategies. Day-to-day tasks also include maintaining product and standards libraries, updating drawings and documentation, assisting with utilization and occupancy metrics, and supporting the delivery of accurate, decision-ready design packages within tight timelines.

Qualifications

• Space planning and workplace design skills, including experience preparing test fits, layouts, and corporate/commercial interior plans.
• Furniture specification skills, such as familiarity with contract furniture systems, product lines, finishes, and bill-of-materials creation.
• Proficiency in design and drafting tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, CET or similar software) and comfort working with digital floor plans and standards.
• Strong documentation and organizational skills, including attention to detail in drawings, schedules, and project records.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with internal teams, clients, and vendors in a professional setting.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment.
• Knowledge of workplace trends, space utilization concepts, and basic building codes or ADA considerations is beneficial.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Facilities Planning, or related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
