K2 Space is hiring an Optical Engineer to contribute to a payload portfolio spanning specialty-fiber lasers, telescopes, and photonic systems. You will work with senior engineers across the full lifecycle from analysis to on-orbit operations, shaping optics for space missions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent practical experience.
• 1+ years of relevant experience in optics.
• Experience with free-space optical systems and fiber components.

Responsibilities

• Own well-bounded technical deliverables from problem definition through validated results.
• Build, align, calibrate, automate, and maintain custom optical test systems.
• Plan and execute experiments to characterize optical components and assemblies.
• Develop optical models and data-processing tools; relate predictions to results.
• Design, specify, procure, and validate custom optics, fixtures, and test equipment.
• Develop repeatable fabrication/assembly processes for high-volume production.
• Support environmental qualification and on-orbit activities; troubleshoot anomalies.
• Communicate technical work via reviews, plans, reports, drawings, and data.
