Job summary
Umbra seeks a Flight Software Engineer specializing in Rust to develop embedded flight software for Umbra missions. You will define software requirements, craft robust architecture, and implement code, leading integration and testing efforts.
You will mentor peers, emphasize documentation, and ensure seamless integration with flight hardware, including unit testing and reviews. This on-site role offers opportunities in Santa Barbara/Goleta or Arlington/Reston offices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in CS/CE or related field.
- 3+ years high-reliability software with Rust or C/C++.
- 1+ years asynchronous Rust development.
- 3+ years embedded Rust/C/C++ on ARM cores.
- Experience on Linux/RTOS or bare-metal environments.
- Strong understanding of processor architecture and optimization.
- Experience leading software processes (Git/CI/CD).
Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain reliable flight and payload software.
- Meet requirements while interfacing with spacecraft subsystems.
- Develop command/control software for flight operations.
- Participate in unit and system testing campaigns.
- Create and maintain software documentation and interfaces.
- Provide mentorship and oversee peer code reviews.
