Job summary

Varda is offering a Summer 2027 Mechanisms & Payload Internship, on-site in Los Angeles, CA. You will join the payload team to design, analyze, and test flight hardware and experiments for in-space manufacturing and reentry testbeds.

Interns work full-time May–August with university schedule alignment. Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited undergrad or grad program and develop hands-on hardware and software skills in a startup space environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with CAD tools and mechanical design.
• Experience designing, building, and/or operating electromechanical hardware.
• Basic programming skills in at least one language (Python preferred).
• Comfort using hand tools and learning machine tools to fabricate parts.

Responsibilities

• Own or contribute to hardware or software design to support development of spacecraft or payloads.
• Create or support test campaigns and build test stands.
• Perform necessary analysis to support development and testing.
