Job summary

Trident Systems Space Electronics Systems division in Sterling, VA seeks a Mechanical Engineer (level 2) to design, analyze, and document mechanical hardware for advanced electronic systems supporting DoD, IC, and civil customers. You will work under guidance of senior engineers to design enclosures, brackets, thermal solutions, and participate in design and peer reviews, testing, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• 2+ years of relevant mechanical design experience.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred).
• Foundational knowledge of statics, dynamics, materials, heat transfer.
• Ability to interpret and create mechanical drawings; GD&T exposure.
• Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Assist in mechanical design and modeling of enclosures and hardware using 3D CAD.
• Create and update part/assembly drawings with basic GD&T.
• Perform basic structural and thermal analyses with mentorship.
• Support engineering documentation, BOMs and design reviews.
• Participate in design reviews and coordinate with manufacturing.
• Assist environmental and qualification testing (vibration, thermal).
• Collaborate with electrical, systems, and test engineers on requirements.
• Follow CM/PLM processes for release and change control.
