Job summary

Orbital Inc. is seeking a hardware-focused engineer to own the GPU compute board from architecture through manufacturing.

You will design a high‑performance, power‑efficient board for space payloads in close collaboration with our ODM, balancing tight power and mass budgets with thermal and radiation considerations. You will work alongside Mechanical & Thermal Engineers to co‑design the PCB interface, drive high‑speed interconnects (NVLink or equivalent), perform SI/PI analysis, manage BOMs with

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (or equivalent).
• Proven end-to-end board design experience — schematic, high-speed PCB layout, bring-up, debugging.
• Strong grasp of high-speed digital design, SerDes, and modern GPU interconnects (NVLink or similar).
• Hands-on experience with an ODM / contract manufacturer through design, NPI, and qualification.
• Solid signal-integrity and power-integrity fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Architect and design the custom GPU compute board (schematic capture and high-speed PCB) for the satellite payload.
• Drive board design and bring-up in partnership with our ODM — reviews, DFM, prototype builds, NPI, qualification.
• Own the high-speed interconnect architecture — GPU-to-GPU fabric (NVLink or equivalent), SerDes, high-speed signaling; evaluate interconnect options.
• Run signal integrity and power integrity analysis to ensure performance under real operating conditions.
• Co-design the electrical/thermal/mechanical interface of the payload with the Mechanical & Thermal Engineer.
• Translate satellite-level constraints into board-level requirements and tradeoffs.
• Coordinate environmental and qualification testing (vibration, thermal-vacuum).
• Manage component selection, supplier relationships, and BOM with manufacturability and scale in mind.
