Job description

Electrical & Computer Engineer | Start-up

Design the Computing Hardware That Powers the Next Generation of Space Infrastructure

We're partnering with an ambitious early-stage aerospace company developing advanced spacecraft that combine high-performance computing with next-generation satellite technology. Their mission is to build powerful orbital platforms capable of supporting entirely new capabilities in space, pushing the boundaries of both aerospace and computing.

As one of the first hardware engineers on the team, you'll take ownership of the spacecraft's core compute hardware-designing high-performance electronics that must operate reliably in one of the most demanding environments imaginable.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Architect and develop custom high-performance compute boards from concept through manufacturing
  • Design high-speed digital electronics including schematics, PCB layouts, board bring-up, and system validation
  • Develop GPU and accelerator interconnect architectures using modern high-speed communication technologies
  • Perform signal integrity, power integrity, and electrical performance analysis
  • Work closely with mechanical and thermal engineers to optimise packaging, cooling, and power delivery
  • Support hardware through prototype builds, design reviews, manufacturing, qualification, and production
  • Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure robust, scalable hardware designs
  • Contribute to environmental testing including vibration, thermal vacuum, and qualification campaigns
What We're Looking For
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience designing complex custom electronic boards from architecture through bring-up and production
  • Strong background in high-speed digital design, PCB development, and modern compute hardware
  • Experience with high-speed interfaces, SerDes technologies, and advanced processor or accelerator platforms
  • Understanding of signal integrity, power integrity, and hardware validation techniques
  • Experience working alongside contract manufacturers throughout design and production
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment with significant ownership and cross-functional collaboration
Nice to Have
  • Experience with AI accelerator, GPU server, or high-performance computing hardware
  • Knowledge of optical interconnects, silicon photonics, or advanced communication technologies
  • Aerospace or space hardware experience, including environmental qualification or radiation-tolerant design
  • Experience scaling hardware from prototype through manufacturing
  • Background in designing mission-critical electronics for demanding operating environments
Why Apply?
  • Own a mission-critical piece of cutting-edge spacecraft hardware with genuine technical autonomy
  • Work across electrical, thermal, and mechanical disciplines on highly integrated hardware systems
  • Join a small, high-calibre engineering team where your work directly shapes the product roadmap
  • Build hardware that moves rapidly from concept to flight-ready systems
  • Competitive salary, meaningful early-stage equity, comprehensive healthcare, unlimited PTO, and the opportunity to help build a groundbreaking space technology company.
