Job summary

Sophia Space Inc. is seeking an Engineering Business Manager (L2, PM-04) to own the Athena program’s business execution from Pasadena, CA.

You will manage the budget, integrated schedule, and contracts, working closely with the Program Manager to keep cost, milestones, and deliverables aligned with technical progress. Ideal candidates will lead cost/schedule analyses, apply EVMS concepts, and drive reporting while leveraging AI tools to improve efficiency.

Qualifications

• Must have program business management, program control, or PM experience in aerospace/defense/space.
• Demonstrated cost and schedule management on hardware development programs.
• Proficiency with scheduling tools like MS Project or Primavera.
• Knowledge of FAR/DFARS, CPFF/FFP/T&M contracts, and subcontract administration.
• Experience developing cost performance reports, variance analyses, and EAC forecasts.
• Strong spreadsheet and financial modeling skills with large datasets.
• Clear written and verbal communication for translating financials into narrative.
• Comfort with using AI tools in day-to-day work with good judgment.
• Bachelor's degree in Business Admin, Finance, Eng. Management, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Budget & Financial Management for the Athena program; baseline and manage WBS and budget-at-completion; monthly cost reviews; coordinate with Finance on actuals and forecasting.
• Schedule Management: develop/maintain Integrated Master Schedule; track milestones and risks; weekly status; apply Earned Value Management linking cost to schedule.
• Contracts & Subcontract Management: act as contracts interface; administer FAR/DFARS subcontracts; support proposals; manage NDAs and IP.
• Program Operations & Reporting: prepare cost/schedule/risk/contract briefings; maintain program-control docs; support risk and opportunity register.
