Job summary

Iris Technology Corporation in Irvine, CA is seeking a Manufacturing/Production Engineer to support space electronics hardware development and production, including FPIEs and CCEs. You will own Travelers and Buildbooks, support assembly and testing, and ensure AS9100 conformance throughout operations.

The role involves hands-on lab work, collaboration with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and PM, and a focus on process improvement and successful flight hardware deliveries.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field required.
  • 7+ years of experience in electronics manufacturing or production engineering in aerospace/defense or regulated industry.
  • Experience with AS9100 quality standards and compliance requirements.
  • Hands-on PCB assembly, electronics integration and test environments.
  • Experience developing and maintaining production documentation (Travelers, SWIs, Buildbooks).
  • Capability to develop training materials and run training programs.
  • Strong communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain Travelers and Buildbooks for production builds and testing activities.
  • Define, update, and optimize build and test procedures as manufacturing processes evolve.
  • Enforce AS9100 process requirements during production and ensure compliance with manufacturing docs.
  • Provide hands-on laboratory support during assembly, integration, and testing.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Operations, and PM to resolve non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement to improve production efficiency and process consistency.
  • Interface with Design Engineering for manufacturability feedback.
  • Support vendor issue resolution impacting schedules or processes.
  • Develop scalable manufacturing documentation and compliance processes as the organization grows.
  • Develop training materials and implement training programs.
  • Maintain focus on product quality, process compliance, and successful flight hardware delivery.
  • Exercise stop-work authority when needed to protect quality and compliance.
