Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation in El Segundo, CA invites applications for a Space Domain Awareness Research Scientist (Sr/MtS or Research Scientist - Signal & Image Process). Qualifications

• PhD in Engineering, Physics, Astronomy, Earth Science, Geodesy or related field.
• 5+ years in design, modeling, simulation, or fabrication of optical remote sensing systems.
• Experience planning technical work independently and in teams.
• Proficiency in MATLAB, C++, Python or similar environments.
• Ability to obtain and maintain US security clearance (citizenship required).

Responsibilities

• Support design, development, testing and evaluation of SDA/OPIR/ISR sensors.
• Conduct performance analyses and architecture studies and report results.
• Operate hyperspectral and polarimetric sensor systems and related instruments.
• Travel to observatories in Hawaii, Arizona and California for observations.
• Lead specialists in prototype sensor design, fabrication, testing and maintenance.
• Develop concepts and proposals for next-gen sensors for government use.
• Present results to internal and external stakeholders across disciplines.
• Collaborate with experts to tackle complex space-domain challenges.
