Job summary

Northwood Space is seeking a Telecommunications Software Engineer to develop software that ingests, processes, and delivers mission data across a satellite ground network. You will implement CCSDS protocols, build high-performance data pipelines, and own critical components from development to deployment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, telecommunications, or related field.
• 2–5+ years of experience in software for networking, real-time data processing, or distributed systems.
• Proficiency with Rust, C++, or Go for systems programming.
• Solid understanding of network protocols, data formats, buffering, and asynchronous processing.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain software for ingesting, processing, and routing telemetry, tracking, and command data.
• Implement and validate CCSDS protocols, including space packets, transfer frames, synchronization, and data encapsulation.
• Develop high-performance data pipelines linking software-defined radios, ground-station infrastructure, and customer endpoints.
• Translate customer mission requirements into configurable data-handling workflows and interfaces; own software from design through deployment.
