Job summary

Craig Technologies seeks an experienced Space Communications / RF Engineer to join our Huntsville, AL team. You will architect and verify RF subsystems for satellite networks in lunar and deep-space missions, ensuring stable links between spacecraft and ground stations.

You will work across systems and hardware teams to define requirements, develop RF configurations, and perform link-budget analyses under challenging orbital conditions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus 5–10 years in communications engineering.
• 5–10 years of direct experience developing spacecraft communication subsystem requirements, hardware specifications, and ICDs.
• Experience with RF analysis and simulation tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, STK, FreeFlyer, GMAT.
• Experience utilizing RF test equipment including spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, signal generators, and high-speed oscilloscopes.

Responsibilities

• Design space communication architectures to support satellite systems in lunar or deep-space missions.
• Define comprehensive communication subsystem requirements and allocate requirements across interfaces.
• Develop RF configurations for antennas, transceivers, SDRs, LNAs, SSPAs, filters, and multiplexers.
• Develop, maintain, and execute communication link budgets to meet end-to-end performance under worst-case conditions.
• Define and implement advanced waveforms, modulation schemes, FEC coding, and synchronization methods.
• Perform RF system modeling, software simulation, hardware integration, and troubleshooting.
• Ensure designs comply with constraints, standards, and government requirements.
• Collaborate with systems, flight software, avionics, GN&C, and ground stations.
