Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking an expert to advise the U.S. government on the Space-Based Interceptor (SBI) program. You will play a critical role in defining capabilities and maturing prototypes across multi-layered missile defense systems.

Successful candidates should have a Bachelor's degree and over 12 years of relevant experience, particularly in integrating complex defense solutions. A TS/SCI clearance is mandatory. The position offers competitive compensation in a supportive work environment.

Job description

The Aerospace Corporation is a federally funded research and development center providing expertise to space programs. Our Defense Systems Group delivers analysis and decision support to senior leaders across national security space. The Special Programs Division supports combat power missions, including the Space-Based Interceptor (SBI) Program Office, which develops a constellation of space-based interceptors for missile defense.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Directly advise the U.S. government on operational considerations for the SBI program, acting as the technical authority.
  • Define capabilities for the operational SBI system and mature the prototype, multi‑vendor solution across the space segment, ground element, and fire control to meet those capabilities.
  • Represent Aerospace’s subject matter experts and solutions to the government and industry to grow partnerships and ensure mission success.
  • Work closely with teams of government, SETA, Aerospace, and other FFRDC experts to mature the prototype phase into an operational multi‑layered missile defense program.
What You Need to be Successful
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 12 or more years of relevant professional or educational experience.
  • Strong ConOps background in missile warning, missile tracking, interceptors, or space vehicles.
  • Proven ability to integrate and communicate technical solutions across complex defense systems.
  • Experience coordinating and leading multidisciplinary technical teams to solve complex aerospace issues.
  • Willingness to travel domestically up to 20% of the time as required.
  • This position requires a current and active TS/SCI security clearance issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a clearance.
