Job Description: Project Director, SP4PHC

ThinkWell is seeking a highly experienced and visionary Project Director for the Strategic Purchasing for Primary Health Care (SP4PHC) project, supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. This fully remote position, preferably for candidates from the global South, involves leading a project aimed at improving primary health care outcomes through health financing reforms and health system performance management in low- and middle-income countries.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Technical Leadership: Set strategic direction, oversee technical quality, foster cross-country learning, and position the project as a thought leader in health financing and health system performance.
  2. Operational Oversight: Ensure timely, budget-compliant project implementation, develop communication and knowledge management strategies, and maintain technical cohesion across country strategies.
  3. Innovation and Collaboration: Explore ways to enhance project performance, foster cross-country collaboration, and build partnerships to expand impact.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Global thought leader with expertise in health systems strengthening and health financing, with 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proven track record in leading multi-national projects, influencing global health policy, and publishing on relevant topics.
  • Strong leadership, systems thinking, and cross-cultural communication skills, with a commitment to innovation and transformation in the development sector.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in health systems strengthening, with expertise in sub-national health performance management and health financing.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence health policy and dialogue at regional and global levels.
  • Graduate degree and at least 10 years of relevant experience in the field.
