Qualifications

Job Overview

The Intravenous Specialist assesses and evaluates the patient’s health status related to vascular access and IV therapy needs. They develop care plans based on patient needs, utilizing age-specific teaching techniques for patients and clinical staff. The specialist is proficient in visualization technology for peripheral IV placements and PICCs and collaborates with clinical staff, reporting directly to the IV Resource Coordinator.

Essential Job Functions
  • Operate ultrasound technology for midline and PICC line placements.
  • Work independently as necessary.
  • Prioritize vascular access needs of patients.
  • Utilize vein visualization technology effectively.
  • Use facility IT systems for documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff.
  • Instruct clinical staff on vascular access procedures.
  • Maintain expert peripheral IV placement skills.
Requirements
  • Current NH licensure as a Registered Nurse.
  • Vascular Access Certification within 1 year of hire.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of related experience.
