Job description

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Sous Chef to join our culinary team. We are the Highland Restaurant & Bar in Glenside PA. Our restaurant Group K To Z Collective including West Ave Grille, Pizza Wheel & Taco Kidz Food Truck. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food service and kitchen management, with experience in fine dining and catering. As a Sous Chef, you will assist the Head Chef in menu planning, overseeing kitchen operations, and ensuring the highest standards of food quality and presentation. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to contribute to an exceptional dining experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Chef in all aspects of kitchen management, including staff supervision and training.
  • Collaborate on menu planning, ensuring creativity and seasonal relevance while adhering to dietary guidelines.
  • Oversee food preparation and cooking processes to maintain high standards of taste, quality, and presentation.
  • Manage inventory levels, ordering supplies as needed to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the kitchen environment.
  • Coordinate banquet services and special events, ensuring timely execution of all culinary offerings.
  • Foster a positive team atmosphere by mentoring junior kitchen staff and promoting collaboration.

Experience

  • Previous experience in a culinary role, preferably as a Sous Chef or in a similar position within fine dining or catering environments.
  • Strong knowledge of menu planning, food service operations, and kitchen management practices.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced restaurant or hospitality setting with an emphasis on high-quality food preparation.
  • Familiarity with dietary department guidelines is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
