Job Summary

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Sous Chef is responsible for preparing and cooking foods, supervising kitchen staff, and managing food-service operations in the absence of the Operations Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Cook and prepare food following approved recipes and standards, ensuring deadlines are met.
2. Supervise and train hourly food service associates.
3. Store food properly, adhering to all safety and sanitation procedures.
4. Ensure proper food handling, presentation, portion control, and serving temperatures.
5. Maintain sanitation of equipment, supplies, and workstations.
6. Interact with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
7. Understand and explain menu items accurately to associates and customers.
8. Manage peak production and service hours efficiently.
9. Monitor inventory and supplies, track production, consumption, and waste, and report low supplies.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.
