Reports To: Executive Chef

Salary: $70,000 - $75,000 / year

Job Summary

Join our team at Flik Independent School Dining as a Sous Chef at Horace Mann School! You will work in a dynamic environment where creativity and culinary excellence are celebrated.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and participate in food preparation and cooking, ensuring quality and presentation.
  • Assist in planning and creating innovative menus aligned with client culture and guidelines.
  • Implement new culinary programs in collaboration with marketing and culinary teams.
  • Manage cost controls and monitor expenditures to stay within budget.
  • Perform additional duties to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years culinary experience, including at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
  • Experience in restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, education, military, healthcare, or related food services.
  • Knowledge of food industry trends, quality, sanitation, safety, and cost controls.
  • Ability to set up and manage production sheets effectively.
  • Strong leadership, training, and management skills.
  • ServSafe or Department of Health Certification preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
  • Associate's degree or equivalent in Culinary Arts preferred.
