Job Summary

Summary: Assists the Executive Chef in preparing and cooking foods. Coordinates activities of cooks and food-service associates. Takes responsibility for the kitchen and food-service staff in the absence of the Executive Chef.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Cook and prepare food following approved recipes and standards, meeting production deadlines.
  • Supervise hourly food service staff, including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, reviews, and disciplinary actions.
  • Store food properly, following all food safety and sanitation procedures.
  • Ensure proper food handling, presentation, portion control, and serving temperatures.
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment, supplies, utensils, and workstations.
  • Interact with customers to resolve complaints courteously and relay information to supervisors.
  • Understand and explain menu items accurately to staff and customers.
  • Manage peak production and service hours efficiently.
  • Monitor inventory, deliveries, and track product usage and waste; inform supervisors of low supplies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
