  • We are hiring immediately for a full-time SOUS CHEF position.
  • Location: Union College - 807 Union Street, Schenectady, NY 12308. Note: online applications accepted only.
  • Schedule: Days may vary, evening and night shifts. More details are available upon interview.
  • Requirement: 5+ years of culinary and food service management experience required.
  • Pay Range: $25.00 per hour to $30.00 per hour.

Job Summary

Helps the Executive Chef prepare and cook foods, coordinates activities of kitchen staff, and assumes responsibility in the absence of the Executive Chef.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Cook and prepare food following recipes and standards, ensuring deadlines are met.
  2. Supervise hourly staff, including interviewing, scheduling, training, and disciplinary actions.
  3. Store food properly, following safety and sanitation procedures.
  4. Ensure proper food handling, presentation, and temperature maintenance.
  5. Maintain sanitation of equipment and workstations.
  6. Interact with customers to resolve complaints and relay information.
  7. Understand and explain menu items to staff and customers.
  8. Monitor inventory and supplies, track production, consumption, and waste.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.
