Job description

We're seeking a Sous Chef to join our team. We are looking for an open-minded, motivated, collaborative, entrepreneurial, professional, and passionate individual who is dedicated to helping others use food to fuel their bodies and redefine workplace culinary services.

The Sous Chef's duties will include:

  • Working with the executive chef to ensure food service operations are organized and executed with excellence.
  • Supporting all kitchen functions, including menu planning and recipe analysis.
  • Creating breakfast, lunch, dinner, and catering menus according to EXOS standards.
  • Maintaining and managing the recipe database and customizing food for clients based on the EXOS Culinary Exchange Program.
  • Collaborating with the Performance Nutrition team to ensure meals meet required specifications.
  • Working catering events, nights, and weekends as needed.
  • Purchasing food and supplies from approved vendors and monitoring inventory.
  • Ensuring kitchen cleanliness and sanitation according to standards and health codes.
  • Developing and implementing food safety and sanitation protocols.
  • Managing systems related to pricing, operations, ordering, and waste reduction.
  • Maintaining kitchen equipment.
  • Performing other duties as directed by the Executive Chef.
  • Supervising and supporting culinary staff, including training on safety, sanitation, and cooking techniques.
  • Representing the business professionally and maintaining records.
  • Interacting positively with staff, members, and guests.
  • Maintaining high work quality and punctuality.
  • Participating in a "Teaching Kitchen" and working with interns.
  • Being knowledgeable about food sensitivities and allergies.
  • Staying current with food trends and new products.
  • Ensuring kitchen cleanliness and organization.
  • Obtaining and maintaining ServSafe Food Manager certification and other necessary certifications.
  • Assisting with ordering, receiving, and storing supplies.
  • Incorporating sustainable and local foods from vendors.

The Ideal Candidate would have:

  • ServSafe Food Manager Certification
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in restaurant and hospitality
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure in an open kitchen environment
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Commitment to quality service
  • Culinary Degree (Bachelor’s, Associate’s, or Certificate)
  • Culinary Nutrition degree preferred
  • Understanding of dietary exchange systems
  • Experience with cost control and food processing software
  • Front of house experience as GM or Floor Manager
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Knowledge of food sanitation regulations
  • Leadership and supervision skills
  • Self-motivation and independence
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to perform nutrient analysis and familiarity with POS systems
