Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Sourcing Specialist for Mechanical Commodities (Starlink) to support the Redmond, WA production facility onsite. You will manage procurement, forecasting, and supplier development while coordinating with engineering and manufacturing to optimize cost and delivery.

The role emphasizes contract negotiations, BOM management, and cross-functional collaboration to enable fast, reliable production of satellites and gateways.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or 2+ years in purchasing, procurement, material planning, production planning, supply chain management, or engineering.
• Experience with MRP/ERP systems and managing BOMs, work orders, and purchase orders.
• Experience with forecasting, demand planning, and lead time analysis.
• Strong data analysis with Excel, SQL and PowerBI.
• Understand manufacturing processes and finishes; APICS/Six Sigma certifications preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication; able to interact with all levels.
• Fast learner with the ability to prioritize multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Place purchase orders and resolve blocked invoices.
• Forecast demand, evaluate capacity, and manage supply signals.
• Track high risk components and supplier performance.
• Communicate clearly with vendors and senior leadership.
• Interpret engineering drawings and BOMs.
• Create sourcing strategies for mechanical parts and hardware.
• Develop a supplier network to minimize cost and lead time.
• Support machined parts, electromechanical equipment, finishes, assemblies.
• Solve complex problems with speed and efficiency.
• Manage outsource fabrication projects and vendor performance.
• Perform onsite vendor capability reviews.
• Author contract documents with legal and ensure performance.
