Responsibilities

• Place purchase orders and resolve blocked invoices for the assigned category.
• Forecast demand, evaluate capacity, and manage supply signals to adjust incoming material.
• Track supplier performance on cost, on-time delivery, quality, and other metrics.
• Utilize negotiations to maximize value and cost savings while reducing risk.
• Create sourcing strategies for Equipment, Services, MRO, and custom parts to meet supply chain targets.
• Solve complex problems quickly to improve speed and efficiency.
• Develop a preferred supplier network and leverage it to minimize cost and lead times.
• Perform onsite reviews of vendor capabilities.
• Draft and manage contract documents with the legal department.
• Manage contracts to ensure supplier performance against obligations.
• Understand contract interrelationships and apply sound business reasoning.
• Maximize value and cost savings through negotiations and cost modeling (Total Cost of Ownership, Should-Cost).
• Travel up to 20% and international travel may be required.

SOURCING SPECIALIST, CAPEX (STARLINK)

This role will enable the production of our customer-facing products, while interfacing closely with key internal stakeholders. We are looking for individuals who can think outside the box to achieve company objectives regarding value and partnerships with our suppliers. Our organization moves quickly, and you must too. This individual will support capital and consumables purchases for the Starlink program.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Place purchase orders and resolve blocked invoices related to assigned category
• Forecast demand, evaluate capacity, and manage supply signals to adjust incoming material
• Track supplier performance on cost, on-time delivery, quality, and other metrics
• Utilize negotiations to maximize value and cost savings benefit while lowering risk
• Create sourcing strategies for assigned category (including Equipment, Services, MRO, and custom parts to reduce risk and meet targets for the supply chain department including, but not limited to, payment terms, cash targets, continuity of supply, and cost savings
• Solve complex, open-ended problems with an emphasis on speed and efficiency
• Develop a preferred supplier network and leverage it to minimize cost and lead time
• Perform onsite reviews of vendor capabilities
• Responsible for authoring of contract documents with the legal department
• Management of contracts ensuring performance of the supplier to contract obligations
• Understand interrelationships between contracts and terms while applying creativity and sound business reasoning to interpret application of contract to business needs
• Maximize value and cost savings through direct negotiations as well as cost modeling (i.e. Total Cost of Ownership, Should-Cost, etc.)

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree and 1+ years of experience working in one or more of the following; OR 3+ years of experience working in one or more of the following in lieu of a degree:
  • Engineering
  • Purchasing
  • Contract negotiation
  • Material or production planning
  • Operations or supply chain management
  • Material cost control
  • Master production scheduling

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to travel and communicate outside of work hours - up to20% work week travel may be required, including international travel
• Willingness to work long hours and weekend when needed to meet critical deadlines
• This position is based in Redmond, WA and requires being onsite

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Pay Range:
Level 1: $85,000.00 - $115,000.00
Level 2: $100,000.00 - $140,000.00

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. Company shuttles are offered to employees for roundtrip travel from select Seattle locations to the SpaceX Redmond office Monday to Friday.
