Job summary

SpaceX, based in Bastrop, TX, seeks an experienced procurement professional to support capital purchases and production consumables for Starlink program needs.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement sourcing and cost management strategies for capital purchases and production consumables.
• Understand production equipment to identify opportunities for cost, space, and process optimization using data analytics.
• Utilize negotiations to maximize value, cost savings and delivery priority while lowering risk.
• Build and own project budgets, funding requests, and capitalization plans focusing on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
• Conduct research, benchmarking, and market analysis for assigned categories.
• Communicate equipment status to management including schedules, risks and mitigations.
• Track and report spend, assess budgetary risk, and provide budget analysis for timely decisions.
• Create sourcing strategies to reduce risk and enable continuous cost reduction.
• Build relationships and drive cross-functional teams to consensus.
• Source and onboard new suppliers for dynamic program needs.
• Work with suppliers on setup, installation, repairs and maintenance.
• Execute purchase orders and manage escalation in purchase-to-pay.

This role will enable the production of our customer-facing products, while interfacing closely with key internal stakeholders. This individual will support capital and consumables purchases for the Starlink program.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work directly with key internal stakeholders to develop and implement sourcing and cost management strategies that support capital purchases and production consumables
• Understand the technical aspects of production equipment to identify opportunities for cost, space, and process optimization and use data analytics to identify and parse process related opportunities
• Utilize negotiations to maximize value, cost savings and priority in terms of delivery for SpaceX while lowering risk
• Build and own overall project budgets, compile funding requests, and generate capitalization plan based on project timeline focusing on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of the categories managed
• Conduct research, perform benchmarking, and gather market analysis for assigned categories
• Communicate overall equipment status to the management team including schedules, risks and mitigation actions and respond quickly to changes to the overall goals, schedule, and architecture
• Track and report projected and actual spend, assess budgetary risk, and provide clear budgetary analysis to enable timely management team decision making
• Create sourcing strategies to reduce risk, enable continuous cost reduction and align with company strategy on payment terms, cash targets, on time delivery and cost savings
• Build genuine relationships both internally and externally and drive cross-functional teams to achieve consensus
• Source and onboard new suppliers to serve dynamic program with rapidly evolving business needs
• Work with supply base to ensure support from vendors regarding setup, installation, repairs and maintenance
• Execute purchase orders and manage escalation process for "purchase to pay" issues

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of experience working in one or more of the following; OR 9+ years of experience working in one or more of the following in lieu of a degree:
• Purchasing
• Material or production planning
• Operations or supply chain management
• Material cost control

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• 3+ years experience with capital expenditure purchasing
• Experience with purchasing for more than one category
• Extensive project management and organizational skills
• Experience managing large scale capital projects

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to travel and communicate outside of work hours - up to 50% work week travel may be required, including international travel
• Willingness to work long hours and weekend when needed to meet critical deadlines
• This position is based in Bastrop, TX and requires being onsite
