Job summary

Sherwin-Williams is seeking a proactive Sourcing professional to lead indirect materials strategy and supplier negotiations at its Cleveland headquarters. You will partner with the Sourcing Director to shape category plans, issue RFQs, and drive cost savings while ensuring supply continuity and compliance.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in sourcing or supply chain, strong communication skills, and hands-on experience with MS Office and COUPA.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sourcing, Supply Chain Management or other relevant specialization.
  • 2+ years of sourcing, supply chain, or relevant business experience.
  • Self-starter with ability to work with minimal direction in a fast-paced environment.
  • PC skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Access)
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • 4+ years in Sourcing/Supply Chain desirable.
  • Experience with COUPA.

  • Manage established pricing and resolve discrepancies.
  • Negotiate and resolve supplier performance disputes with guidance.
  • Develop written category strategies for assigned categories.
  • Implement cost savings projects for assigned categories.
  • Work with stakeholders to align strategy with total cost and assurance of supply.
  • Ensure compliance with department policies and applicable laws.

Job description

This position oversees the strategic sourcing and management process of indirect materials, services and supplies. Responsibilities may include developing sourcing strategies, executing sourcing strategies, monitoring market movements, negotiating agreements, working with a broad base of business groups, and resolving issues with suppliers.Position may also work closely with the Sourcing Director or a Senior Sourcing Specialist supporting more strategic, complex, or specialized categories.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • With direction from Sourcing Director, develop and implement sourcing strategies and plans for assigned categories consistent with global commodity team strategies and all applicable Business Unit business operating plans and objectives.
  • Develop, issue and analyze RFQ’s for assigned commodities or those areas directed by Sourcing Director.
  • Communicate to stakeholders sourcing strategies, pricing, and market conditions impacting supplies and services.
  • Support Business Units strategy and requirements.
  • Identify and develop new suppliers.
  • Ensure uninterrupted supply of materials and services.
  • Work with Sourcing Director to negotiate and implement sourcing agreements/contracts which help to increase supply assurance, reduce risk and improve Sherwin-Williams’ competitive position in the market.
  • Forecast pricing on assigned categories to provide top management with key information for determining future pricing and budgetary impacts.
  • Management of established pricing (verification, resolution of discrepancies, etc.).
  • With assistance from Sourcing Director, negotiate and resolve any claims or disputes concerning a supplier’s performance on categories managed.
  • With assistance from Sourcing Director, develop written category strategies for assigned categories.
  • Develop and implement cost savings projects and initiatives for assigned categories.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to ensure strategy alignment with total cost and assured supply and service.
  • Ensure compliance with department policies, procedures and applicable laws, rules and regulations.

Travel Requirements: Up to 10%

Preferred:

  • 4+ years successful Sourcing, Supply Chain or related experience is desirable.
  • Track record of increasing responsibility with strong performance and focus on cost savings, contract negotiation and security of supply.
  • Experience with COUPA
