Job summary

SMPLY Brands is seeking an analytical Product Development & Sourcing Coordinator to support our product development and sourcing organization. You will ensure complete product specifications, cost data, and supplier qualification across our catalog.

This highly visible role sits at the intersection of product specifications, vendor management, costing, quality, and new product commercialization, offering ownership and meaningful growth as we scale.

Qualifications

• 1–4 years in product development, sourcing, procurement, packaging, quality, or a related function.
• Experience in manufacturing, consumer products, paper or nonwovens, foodservice, or related industry preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Advanced Excel proficiency; comfortable working with structured product and cost data.
• Comfort communicating and negotiating with suppliers.
• Experience with ERP, PLM, or item master systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain product data, BOMs, and item master records across the catalog.
• Validate GTINs, labeling, and classification data for items.
• Costing, pricing, and supplier quote analysis with leadership input.
• Manage supplier qualification, onboarding, and communication.
• Coordinate with product development for samples and first production readiness.
• Maintain compliance documentation and track certifications.

About The Opportunity

We are looking for an analytical, detail-driven Product Development & Sourcing Coordinator to support our product development and sourcing organization.

This is not a purchasing clerk role.

This is not a marketing role.

This is a highly visible position that sits at the intersection of product specifications, vendor management, costing, quality and compliance, and new product commercialization.

You will help ensure that every product we sell is fully specified, accurately costed, sourced from qualified suppliers, and compliant with the requirements of the customers and programs it serves.

What You'll Do

Own Product Data

• Maintain product specifications, bills of material, and item master data across the product catalog
• Validate GTINs, case labeling, and classification data for every item
• Incorporate product changes from internal partners and keep the technical record current
• Maintain the product specification sheet library
  

Support Costing and Pricing

• Collect, normalize, and maintain supplier quote and cost history
• Maintain product costing models in partnership with operations leadership
• Prepare cost comparisons and pricing recommendations for leadership review
• Evaluate materials, formats, and sourcing alternatives as part of every cost review
  

Support Supplier Management

• Maintain supplier capability and qualification records across our manufacturing partners
• Support supplier qualification and onboarding, including capability review, samples, and documentation
• Support sourcing evaluations and supplier selection as directed by leadership
• Manage day-to-day supplier communication on specifications, samples, quotes, and documentation
  

Support Quality and Compliance

• Maintain product and supplier compliance documentation, including certifications, test reports, and safety data sheets
• Track certification status and renewal dates across our supplier base
• Verify specification conformance on samples and first production
• Coordinate compliance requirements with suppliers and internal partners ahead of program timelines
  

Support Product Development

• Maintain the product development calendar
• Coordinate samples, technical artwork handoff, and first-production readiness with suppliers
• Participate in commercialization readiness reviews
• Communicate timeline and cost considerations to leadership with supporting detail

What We're Looking For

Preferred Experience

• 1-4 years in product development, sourcing, procurement, packaging, quality, supply chain analytics, or a related function
• Experience in manufacturing, consumer products, paper or nonwovens, foodservice, or a related industry preferred
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Advanced Excel proficiency; comfort working with structured product and cost data
• Comfort communicating and negotiating with suppliers
