Job summary

Parker Hannifin's Parker Aerospace division seeks a procurement leader to manage source-controlled components for production, driving lean processes and supplier partnerships. The role emphasizes cost, quality, delivery, and compliance across multiple suppliers within a manufacturing environment.

The successful candidate will direct purchasing strategies, develop contingency plans, and foster continuous improvement with suppliers while ensuring on-site attendance is maintained.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in business, engineering, or materials management.
  • JD or extensive experience in supplier contract writing/negotiation.
  • Certification in supply chain management preferred.
  • Strong negotiation skills and cost-focused procurement.
  • Experience with source-controlled aerospace suppliers a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Directs the Division's purchases of source-controlled components for production.
  • Establishes supplier evaluation criteria for price, quality, delivery, and compliance.
  • Interviews, selects and negotiates with suppliers; favors local suppliers where possible.
  • Works with suppliers on continuous improvement programs for quality and delivery.
  • Develops and implements re-order procedures and contingency plans.
  • Benchmarks supplier performance and drives margin expansion strategies.
  • Oversees price variance reviews and procurement strategy alignment.

Position Summary

Position Summary

Manages the direction and daily activities of the Divisions procurement of source controlled components ranging from valves, filter manifolds, heat exchangers, motors, and other electrical components for production of the Divisions products. Responsible for embracing and driving lean enterprises systems throughout the procurement process. This position requires regular on-site attendance.

Essential Functions
  • Plans and direct the activities of the Division's purchases of source-controlled components ranging from valves, filter manifolds, heat exchangers, motors, and other electrical components . Determines the most cost efficient and reliable sources of supply needed for the manufacturing process.
  • Establishes preferred supplier selection criteria based on supplier evaluations of price, quality, delivery, certifications, and compliance with governmental procurement regulations. Promotes and uses strategic suppliers.
  • Interviews, selects and negotiates with suppliers in response to material requirements/cost issues. Establishes procedures to leverage the company’s position. Ensures purchasing strategy reflects the consistent utilization of local suppliers vs. Group strategic suppliers.
  • Works with suppliers to develop and manage continuous improvement programs, addressing quality, delivery, service as well as price.
  • Develops standard/automated re-order procedures. Will develop crisis management and supplier backup contingency programs.
  • Develops and benchmarks best practices among the Divisions suppliers and maintain accurate measurements and records for evaluation of suppliers.
  • Drives strategies to grow margin expansion through deflation and establishing new sources of supply.
  • Conduct regular review of purchase price indexes to confirm variances.
  • Develop and hire top talent to ensure long-term success of the department.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 4-6 years purchasing/managerial experience.
  • Strong negotiation skills with experience in negotiating in a single source environment and long lead times (approx. 52 weeks).
  • Understanding of aerospace source-controlled supplier management with the ability to find win/win solutions.
  • Support team members in LTA negotiations to ensure long term continuity of supply for the business.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or materials management required with certification in supply chain management preferred.
  • JD preferred or extensive experience in supplier contract writing/ negotiation.
  • Possess analytical and technical skills required to understand business practices and recommend proper automation opportunities.
  • Must have functional understanding of cost accounting and adopt to practical application.
  • Must have advanced computer skills and be able to understand electronic processing.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external contacts.
  • Must be an innovator and embrace lean enterprises principles and practices.
