Job description

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

The Global Network Deployment (GND) organization is responsible for the cabling infrastructure, network hardware deployment, and program management across AWS data centers worldwide.

Key job responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have a successful track record of creating sourcing plans, managing supplier performance, and working with a broad range of cross-functional stakeholders.

  1. Create forecasts and sourcing plans in support of customer demand.
  2. Work with a range of stakeholders including supply chain, operations, engineering, and suppliers to drive supply profiles and to support on-time material availability.
  3. Analyze business and technology trends to identify process improvement opportunities, reduce costs, and minimize risks for AWS and its customers.
  4. Manage material inventories for AWS data centers.
  5. Evaluate and monitor performance of suppliers.
  6. Lead cross-functional meetings with clear document writing, agenda creation, note capture, and follow-up activity coordination.
  7. Serve as an escalation point for teams to remediate supplier/material risks.

A day in the life

As a Sourcing Manager, you will play a crucial role in the procurement and strategy of goods and services in support of AWS data centers. You will work with teams across networking, design engineering, and data center delivery to understand project requirements and translate that into material needs to drive on-time delivery for our customers.
