Job summary

The Planet Group is seeking an experienced R&D Sourcing Manager onsite in Foster City, CA or Parsippany, NJ to lead sourcing and contracting for clinical development vendors across global Phase I–IV trials.

The role requires reviewing contracts, negotiating business and legal terms, and managing multiple negotiations through our vendor outsourcing systems, while coordinating with Clinical Operations, Finance, Legal, and other stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experience reviewing contracts and negotiating business terms.
• Strong organizational skills for cataloging terms in contract databases.
• Ability to manage multiple negotiations across systems and teams.
• Excellent communication with internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience supporting vendor selection lifecycle (RFI/RFP) and contract closeout.

Responsibilities

• Sourcing and contracting development organizations for global Phase I–IV trials.
• Focus on clinical ancillary services and systems used across development.
• Support full vendor selection lifecycle: RFI/RFP, evaluation, and selection.
• Negotiate contracts, change orders, and closeouts with internal stakeholders and Legal.
• Assist other Vendor Outsourcing staff in resolving moderately complex contract issues and negotiate lower-value contracts.

Onsite in Foster City CA OR Parsippany, NJ

• Familiarity with technology, systems, and software is a plus, as well as experiencing supporting various Development Functions (Clinical Operations, Clinical Data Science, Real-World Evidence, Regulatory Affairs, Patient Safety, Quality and/or Medical Affairs).
• The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of contracting frameworks and general legal terms.
• They must be able to quickly review contracts, negotiate business terms, and support the negotiation of legal terms.
• Strong organizational skills are essential to ensure accurate cataloging of terms and conditions in the contract database,
• as well as support many sourcing and contracting negotiations at one time through our various systems.
• Excellent communication skills are required, as the role involves regular interaction with internal and external stakeholders, including Clinical Operations, Finance, Legal, Business Conduct, Vendor Management, and Payments.
• The candidate must be able to manage competing priorities effectively and work independently with minimal supervision.
• The R&D Sourcing Manager will be responsible for sourcing and contracting development organizations to support Client's global Phase I–IV clinical trials, as well as other ad hoc projects within the Vendor Outsourcing department.
• This role will primarily focus on clinical ancillary services and systems used across development.
• The R&D Sourcing Manager may support the full vendor selection lifecycle, including RFI/RFP processes, vendor evaluation and selection, contract negotiation, change order management, and agreement closeout. They will assist other Vendor Outsourcing staff in resolving moderately complex contract issues and, with support from internal stakeholders and the Legal department, help negotiate less complex or lower-value contracts.
