What you'll do

Viasat is looking for an onsite Source Inspector to primarily support a facility in Edwardsville, IL. In this position, you will have the flexibility to work on an on-call as-needed basis. Viasat's Quality Assurance Department requires inspection and auditing/surveillance services to monitor manufacturing and quality processes at our various contract manufacturers (CM) and to approve manufactured items completed and presented for Viasat buyoff, including end unit box builds.

The day-to-day

As a Quality Control Inspector, you will compare the products with released engineering drawings, purchase orders, and other contractual requirements as specified by operations. You will interface with designated points of contact at 3rd party contract manufacturers and suppliers, check for quality workmanship according to published manufacturing standards, and review documentation for each shipment, including AS9102 First Article Reports. You will suggest improvements to product quality, provide written reports of Source Inspection results to management, conduct quality audits, and initiate corrective and preventive actions when non-conformances are noted.

What you'll need

• 2-4 years of Quality Assurance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience inspecting mechanical or electro-mechanical assemblies.
• Prior experience with GD&T.
• Knowledge of ANSI Y.14.5.
• Understanding of QA processes related to non-conforming materials and MRB.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Up to 20% domestic travel.
• Ability to work overtime with minimal supervision.
• Familiarity with BOMs, drawings, and specifications.
• Ability to verify conformance of manufactured parts and assemblies to specifications.
• Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
• US citizenship required.
• Position based in Edwardsville, IL.

Additional preferred qualifications

• ASQ certifications.
• FAA or aerospace industry experience.
• Metrology skills (CMM, optical comparator, spectrophotometer), ISO or CAD training, other ASQ certifications.
• Associate degree or equivalent experience preferred.

Salary range

$22.12 - $34.86/hour. For specific locations within San Jose, San Francisco Bay Area, and New York City, the range is $27.4 - $41.35/hour.
