DigiPen Institute of Technology is hiring a Student Assistant for the Sound Lab (F26-S27) to support live sound events on campus and occasional external events. The role reports to August McCubbin and requires a current DigiPen student in good standing with a minimum 2.5 GPA.

Work hours are approximately 20 per week, with evenings and weekends as needed. Wage range is $17.13 to $18.25 per hour, based on terms worked at DigiPen.

Qualifications

  • Audio engineering experience and a desire to learn new skills and technologies.
  • Strong listening skills and musical ears required.
  • Live sound reinforcement and mixing experience is a strong plus.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience maintaining hardware and software for Mac and PC computers.
  • Experience maintaining computer music workstations, including audio and MIDI peripherals.
  • Ability to stay calm and focused in stressful situations.
  • Ability to lift more than 40 pounds.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Accountable for tracking and reporting the amount of time worked.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with setup and execution of live sound events on DigiPen campus and at some events off-campus.
  • Help clean, maintain, secure, and organize music classrooms, labs, and studios.
  • Assist music class professors as needed.
  • Oversee sound lab equipment checkout requests.
  • Troubleshoot sound lab and studio hardware and software.
