Position Summary

The Sound Designer’s immediate priority is converting and adapting existing Light and Wonder slot machine audio content for SciPlay platforms, translating sounds and music in their entirety while maintaining the best possible quality, playability, and “spirit” of the original game. This conversion work is where the role’s success is measured most closely, and it demands meticulous attention to detail to ensure every asset is accurate, properly implemented, and true to the source. The role also includes creating original sounds and music for new games, a responsibility that will grow over time as the Sound Designer builds a track record with conversions.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Convert and adapt existing Light and Wonder audio content for SciPlay platforms, maintaining audio quality and the “spirit” of the original game. This is the core, most closely evaluated responsibility of the role today.
  • Write clear, detailed documentation in Excel for conversions and original projects alike, including asset lists, implementation specs, and notes for engineering. Accurate documentation is essential to getting conversions right, and is a significant, ongoing part of the role. Strong written communication and close attention to detail are essential.
  • Review builds with programmers to confirm all audio assets are implemented and functioning correctly.
  • Understand the technical requirements of the platforms we create content for, including Facebook/WebGL, mobile, and land-based Class 3 slot machines. Coordinate with the Light and Wonder sound department. Collaborate closely with app development teams in the US, Israel, India, and Ukraine.
  • Create original music and sound effects for slot machines, casino apps, and promotional materials. This is a smaller part of the role today and will grow as conversion skills are established.
  • Record and edit voice-over sessions, coaching and directing voice actors to capture the right performance.
  • Create and modify FMOD projects, building and maintaining sound events, mixing structures, and parameters for accurate, efficient integration with game code.
  • Test and validate sound and music assets.
  • Use industry-standard tools including Cubase (or equivalent DAW), Adobe Audition, FMOD, Jira/Confluence, and Excel.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Music or equivalent relevant experience
  • Professional work experience in sound design and music composition
  • Hands‑on experience with FMOD for implementing and mixing adaptive game audio
  • Critical listening skills, with a sharp ear for identifying and correcting subtle audio issues
  • Experience with a DAW, Cubase strongly preferred
  • Ability to quickly learn and utilize proprietary software
  • Experience in MS Office
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to follow direction and accept constructive criticism
  • Excellent organizational and problem‑solving skills, with exceptional, meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and meet multiple concurrent deadlines
  • Sound/music production knowledge (sound formats, mastering, etc.)
  • Music knowledge (music theory, notation, piano, etc.)
  • Ability to play one or more instruments proficiently
  • Ability to set up and operate recording hardware for a variety of applications (microphones, cables, mixers, etc.)
  • Positive attitude and genuine enthusiasm for video games and slot machines
  • Collaborative, low‑ego team player who takes feedback well and stays focused and on‑task
