BlockReel is seeking a senior sound designer for a dark sci-fi web series. You will craft all sound effects, Foley, and ambiance, ensuring seamless integration with the score and dialogue. Work closely with the director and composer to shape the sonic identity of the project.

This is a three-week engagement with remote collaboration and occasional Nashville-in-person discussions, starting in October 2026 and culminating in November. A strong portfolio and a complete reel are required.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in sound design for narrative projects, preferably web series or short films.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating ability to craft complex and evocative soundscapes.
• Own professional sound design software and a comprehensive sound effects library.
• A compelling reel showcasing past work is essential.

Our upcoming independent web series, a dark sci-fi thriller about artificial intelligence and existential dread, is seeking a senior-level Sound Designer. This project delves into a nuanced, unsettling tone, and we're looking for someone with a sophisticated ear to truly enhance the narrative through immersive soundscapes and precise audio storytelling. We believe sound is paramount to creating a compelling experience for our audience. Key responsibilities include creating all sound effects, Foley, ambiance, and ensuring seamless integration with the musical score and dialogue. You will work closely with the director and our composer, providing creative input on the overall sonic identity of the series. We anticipate this will be about 3 weeks of work, primarily during the second half of October 2026 and continuing into November. You will be working remotely with check-ins, though we will meet in person in Nashville occasionally for creative discussions. We will provide all necessary dialogue and music stems. Candidates should have extensive experience in sound design for narrative projects, preferably web series or short films, with a strong portfolio demonstrating your ability to craft complex and evocative soundscapes. You must own your own professional sound design software (DAW) and a comprehensive sound effects library. A compelling reel showcasing your past work is essential. This is a deferred compensation position offering points in the production. We are aiming to make a decision by November 10, 2026, so please send your materials before then.
