Job summary

Stanley Black & Decker is seeking a Sorting Utility to operate and monitor machines, inspect parts, and ensure safe, efficient production. You will load machines, monitor quality, box and palletize finished parts, and perform basic machine adjustments to maintain workflow.

The role requires the ability to read instructions, basic math, and willingness to work overtime. A forklift operator certification is a plus and safety rules must be followed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to operate forklift.
• Basic mathematical understanding and measurement skills.
• Must read at a level to comprehend instructions and labels.

Responsibilities

• Load machines to keep production running.
• Visually monitor part quality and use gauges as required.
• Box and palletize parts for shipment or storage.
• Perform basic adjustments to machines to maintain output.
• Distinguish good vs. bad parts using samples.
• Clean all machines between jobs and changeover seamlessly.
• Be able to work in other areas/departments when assigned.
• Work overtime as needed to meet production goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Position Summary

The Sorting Utility position is responsible for operating and monitoring machine functions, keeping boxes made and labels for each part ran on machine and making inspections of parts as required by Quality Control. This position will comply with all safety rules.

Essential Job Functions

• Load machines as needed to keep running
• Visually monitor part quality and with appropriate test and/or gauges
• Box and palletize parts
• Perform basic adjustments to machines
• Ability to distinguish good/bad parts via provided samples
• Clean all machines between jobs
• Ability to work in other areas/depts. when assigned
• Ability to work overtime as needed
• Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor

Essential Skills & Experience

• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• Ability to operate forklift
• Basic mathematical understanding and ability (add, subtract, divide units of measurement)
• Must read at a level to comprehend instructions and labels

Physical Demands

• Walking, standing frequently
• Use of eyes to visually inspect parts frequently
• Use of hands, arms and fingers regularly, grasping bags and making / taping boxes
• Lifting 20-35 pounds regularly, occasionally 50+ lbs – assisted 2 person lift anything over 35 lbs
• Carrying product to load and stack pallets
• Bending and squatting frequently
