Job summary

GreenWaste Recovery Llc is seeking a Sorter at our Sacramento, California facility to help sort recyclables and waste, reducing contamination and maintaining high recycling rates. This hands-on position reports to the Operations Supervisor and requires adherence to safety procedures.

Shifts vary and overtime may be required. The job may be indoors or outdoors depending on site location; physical demands include standing for long periods and lifting up to 40 lbs.

Qualifications

• The ability to distinguish between commodities with ease in order to separate material properly.
• The work habits to have are reliable transportation, be punctual, and reliable in order to minimize disruptions to the day-to-day operations.
• The ability to work as a team and work well with others.

Responsibilities

• Follow company and OSHA safety procedures to ensure safety.
• Dependant on the location of the operation (indoor or outdoor), extract at least 25-48 items per minute to maximize recycling potential.
• Ability to follow directions, daily procedures, and protocols.
• Be able to work near others while sorting material from either side of the conveyor belt to increase productivity.
• Ability to stand and collect material for extended periods of time in front of a conveyor belt requiring the use of both hands with good manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination.
• Handle and transport materials and equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned and assist with various onsite projects such as litter control, routine maintenance and housekeeping throughout the facility as needed.

Position Summary:

GreenWaste is seeking to fill the position of Sorter to provide support our location at 4201 Florin Perkins Road, Sacramento California. This role’s main function will sort a variety of materials that range from recyclables to trash to minimize contamination and to maintain high recyclable rates.

Qualifications:

• Proof of authorization to be employed in the U.S.

Language Skill:

• Proficiency in English and/or Spanish.

Physical Demands:

• Dependent on the location of the operation, it requires the ability to handle material weighing up to 40 lbs.
• Requires constant pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, and grasping material to prevent it from ending up in the wrong commodity container.
• Requires going up and down stairs to reach certain workstations.

Requires working in a fast-paced work environment where there is exposure to loud noises, heat, cold, sharp objects, and odors. Requires the use of a hard hat, safety glasses, work boots, safety vests and gloves always. Work shifts vary. Regular workday may be anywhere from 4-12 hours depending on the daily tonnage. Working overtime is required. Operation may be indoor or outdoor dependent on site location.
