Position Summary and Primary Duties
The sorter produces quality items and soft goods for pricing. Additionally, they assist donors upon arrival.
Essential Duties
- Must be punctual and have dependable attendance.
- Exhibit professionalism while maintaining a friendly and cooperative attitude towards customers, donors, and colleagues.
- Ability to multitask, make quick decisions, and work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
- Be aware that raw bagged donations are not limited to soft goods.
- Sort through bags of donated textiles, purses, belts, and other soft goods. Place quality items in the designated barrel or tub.
- Collect the salvage items and place them into bags. Then, transport the bags to the designated salvage container or area.
- Box good quality textiles for storage using the current storage policy
- Assist donors as they arrive.
- Maintain accurate records of donations and issue completed donation receipts to all donors.
- Take trash out to the correct container when needed.
- Work must be conducted safely; maintain good housekeeping standards. Keep your work area well-maintained and clean. Ensure all aisles and pathways to fire extinguishers and exits are clear of clutter.
- Please report any security and loss prevention concerns to your manager.
- Always follow all policies and procedures.
- All other duties as instructed by the Manager.
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions

- Respond to telephones, written correspondence, and other auditory and visual stimulation.
- Remain calm under stress and have the emotional and physical stamina to deal with a variety of stressful situations.
- Frequently sit, stand, bend, kneel, and walk.
- Frequently lift and carry items up to 40 pounds.
- Occasionally climb stairs or inclined surfaces.
- Occasionally work outside during night hours and/or inclement weather.
