Job Summary

The Sonographer/Ultrasound Tech PRN performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures, demonstrating technical expertise and supporting ancillary staff. Responsibilities include obtaining quality images, patient screening, equipment operation, image review, and documentation.

Essential Functions

• Perform ultrasound procedures as ordered, following protocols.
• Screen and interview patients, record information.
• Position patients, operate equipment, monitor scans, adjust for optimal images.
• Review and evaluate images for diagnostic quality.
• Use PACS, EMR, and related software.
• Conduct equipment quality control and report issues.
• Prepare exam rooms, maintain cleanliness and supplies.
• Maintain certifications, licensure, and ongoing education.

Qualifications

Required:

• Associate degree in Sonography or related field, or certification from an accredited program.
• Current ARDMS or ARRT registration within 12 months of hire.
• BLS certification from AHA or ARC.

Preferred:

• Texas MRT certification.
• Associate degree in Radiologic Sciences.
