Job summary

RAYUS Radiology is seeking a PRN Sonographer/Ultrasound Technologist to operate imaging equipment and produce diagnostic images for patients across Richardson, Plano, and McKinney centers. The role is 4-7pm, Monday through Friday, with Saturdays as needed, and RVT certification is preferred.

The incumbent will screen patients, explain procedures, perform routine and advanced sonography, and maintain accurate RIS records with strong patient communication throughout the exam.

Qualifications

• ARDMS registered technologist in good standing.
• Graduate of AMA approved radiography program.
• Licensed Radiological Technologist in the applicable state.
• RT/RMT/ARDMS certification and OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens training.
• Current CPR certification.
• Ability to perform sonography procedures independently.
• Certification in imaging specialty.

Responsibilities

• Screen patients before exams using two identifiers to ensure correct patient and procedure.
• Explain procedures and position patients for optimal imaging.
• Perform routine and advanced sonography imaging with minimal supervision.
• Adjust scan parameters and follow physicians' orders accurately.
• Maintain patient records in RIS and keep work area safe and organized.

Job description

RAYUS Radiology is looking for a Sonographer/Ultrasound Technologist to join our team. As a Sonographer, you will operate your assigned machine to produce images of the patient's body for diagnostic purposes. Taking a patient centered approach, you will provide Sonography services within professional standards and with excellent customer service. Each patient comes to our centers looking for answers. You will guide patients through this sometimes-difficult process by kindly talking them through the steps and answering their questions and concerns regarding exam procedures and process.

This is a temporary (PRN) position working, 4-7pm Monday-Friday and Saturdays, as needed at our Richardson, Plano, and McKinney centers.

Prefer a Sonographer with RVT certification.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Screens patient before exam for any precautions or contradictions pertaining to examination, using two patient identifiers to ensure correct patient and procedure
• Explains and prepares patients for sonography imaging procedures that will be performed, explaining the procedure, positioning patients so that the parts of the body can be appropriately
• Performs routine and advanced Sonography imaging procedures on designated portions of the body for use by physicians in the diagnosing and treating of patient illness and/or injury with minimal amount of supervision or repeats scanned, while providing patient support by talking to patients throughout procedure
• Adjusts Sonography scan parameters correctly and as needed
• Follows physicians' orders precisely, conforms to safety regulations, to and accurately maintains patient records within Radiology Information System (RIS)
• Maintains an orderly and clean work area including equipment promoting good safety habits for patients and co-workers
• Maintains ACR toolkit and accreditation requirements

(5%) Sonography Department Support

• Assists with maintaining an updated imaging protocol manual and software upgrades
• Monitors medical supply inventory and requests supplies as necessary
• Assists with training of new associates, providing resource and technical expertise, as applicable

(5%) Completes other tasks as assigned

Minimum:

• ARDMS registered technologist, current and in good standing
• Graduate of the American Medical Association (AMA) approved school of radiography
• Licensed Radiological Technologist in the appropriate state, if applicable
• RT, RMT or ARDMS Certification
• OSHA Class I exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens
• Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
• Must have training and experience sufficient to competently perform sonography procedures independently
• Certification in imaging specialty
