Job Description:

Provides high-quality neurodiagnostic ultrasound services appropriate to the patient's age, contributing to positive patient outcomes. Maintains cooperative working relationships with other departments and medical staff.

Education/Experience:

  • Completion of an Allied Health Training Program in Diagnostic Ultrasound resulting in an Associate's degree, or completion of a related Allied Health Program with postgraduate coursework in Neuroultrasound, or a Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • One year of clinical ultrasound experience preferred.

Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration:

  • Completion of the Registry of Vascular Technologists or the Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography within 18 months of hire.
  • Current CPR certification required.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs and assists in neurovascular sonography procedures of high quality.
  • Obtains and manages data and documentation appropriately, utilizing hospital resources efficiently.
  • Communicates effectively to ensure efficient, high-quality service and customer satisfaction.
  • Participates in educational activities to improve patient care and quality.
  • Manages equipment operations and maintenance appropriately.
  • Provides safe and developmentally appropriate patient care according to Age/Developmental Specific Care Guidelines.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Professional communication with physicians, nurses, and other staff regarding neuroultrasound technology.
  • Maintains good interpersonal relationships with patients, staff, and the public.
  • Works in a clean, well-lit, comfortable environment with low noise levels.
  • Handles contact with patients under various circumstances, including exposure to unpleasant elements, odorous chemicals, bloodborne pathogens, and infectious diseases.
  • May be exposed to inhalation of Grade O2 and other hazards.
  • Uses required personal protective equipment such as eye and face protection, gowns, masks, gloves, and shoe covers.
