Job summary

Novant Health in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Sonographer to perform high-quality ultrasound exams and provide procedural support in collaboration with physicians.

You will independently complete detailed ultrasounds, assist with ultrasound-guided procedures, and document findings in the EMR while maintaining patient safety and compassion. The role emphasizes teamwork, infection prevention, and continuous improvement in a busy clinic setting.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; ARDMS or ARRT registry required; if not registered, must be eligible for registry and has 12 months from date of hire to complete registry.
  • One year experience in Sonography preferred.
  • ARRT RT(S) or ARDMS certified or Board eligible, required; ARDMS certified within first year of employment.
  • Good communication, ability to work independently in diagnostic rooms, basic computer skills; knowledge of different ultrasound equipment; adapt to patient age-specific needs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality ultrasound imaging and provide procedural support in collaboration with physicians.
  • Independently complete detailed ultrasounds with appropriate imaging techniques.
  • Assist physicians with ultrasound guidance during procedures and other diagnostic interventions.
  • Review images for quality and accuracy and repeat/adjust studies as needed.
  • Document patient history, imaging results, and procedural details in the EMR.
  • Communicate significant findings promptly to providers.
  • Prepare exam rooms, stock supplies, and disinfect equipment per infection prevention standards.
  • Explain procedures clearly and support a calm patient experience.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and team members to support clinic operations.
  • Participate in training, staff meetings, and improvement efforts while modeling professionalism.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and team members to support efficient clinic operations and quality care
  • Participate in training, staff meetings, and improvement efforts while modeling professionalism, flexibility, and organizational values
What We’re Looking For
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. ARDMS or ARRT registry required. If not currently registered, must be eligible for registry and has 12 months from date of hire to complete registry.
  • Experience: One year experience in Sonography, preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification:
    • ARRT RT(S) or ARDMS certified or Board eligible, required.
    • ARDMS certified within first year of employment, required.
  • Additional Skills (required): Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing; good communication skills, capable of functioning alone in diagnostic rooms; working knowledge of various types of ultrasound equipment, able to adapt to new and various situations and procedures according to age of patient served. Has ability to interpret information to identify each patient’s requirements for care relative to his/her age specific needs. Basic computer skills.
