Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited sonography program with RDMS certification.
  • Minimum six months experience in OB/GYN or MFM setting preferred.

Overview

The Maternal-Fetal Diagnostic Center of Atlanta provides consultations for complicated and high-risk pregnancies. As maternal-fetal specialists, we are an additional resource for you and your doctor as you make decisions during or prior to a pregnancy. The Maternal Fetal Diagnostic Center does not replace your OB/GYN; our role is to help your doctor provide you with high-quality care.

Responsibilities

The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer provides ultrasound tests for patients. The sonographer works with other members of the healthcare team to provide comprehensive care to patients.

  • Prepares patients for ultrasound examination.
  • Explains procedures to the patient prior to scan and provides patient education materials.
  • Conducts ultrasonic diagnostic procedures and records anatomical, pathological and/or physiological data for interpretation by a physician.
  • Assists physician during invasive procedures requiring ultrasound guidance.
  • Records and processes sonographic data and other pertinent observations made during the scan and presents them to the physician.
  • Responsible for maintaining adequate inventory of ultrasound supplies and maintaining ultrasound equipment.
  • Participates in professional development trainings.
  • Maintains required certification and registries.
  • Performs other assigned duties as directed.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Graduate of an accredited sonography program with a degree in ultrasonography or equivalent.
  • RDMS Certification is required and must be maintained.
  • CPR certification required.

Experience:

  • Minimum six months experience as an ultrasound technician working in OB/GYN and/or MFM setting preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and other team members.
  • Ability to work well in high-pressure situations.
